Day 9~ Our Just God

Job 34:10-12 says this;

"Will Almighty God do what is wrong? He rewards people for what they do and treats them as they deserve. Almighty God does not do evil; he is never unjust to anyone."

In this passage of scripture taken from Job, we see one of Job's friends, Elihu as he takes center stage. All of Job's other friends had not been able to understand God's true purpose for allowing troubles to come on Job.

In fact, not even Job himself knew but he was still faithful to God, pleading his case.

The book of Job is unique in the sense that it shows us another side of God. A side that, in those days, was not completely understood.

In the days of Job, it was believed that it was only when a person sinned, that they would go through difficulties, for example, only if a person had sinned would they get a disease or would they lose what belonged to them, in those days, troubles were seen as devine wrath.

However, the truth was different from what they believed. If you were to read the book of Job, the second chapter in Job shows Satan who had gathered with the heavenly beings, God spoke to him and asked him where he had been. Soon after God himself brought Job to Satan's attention, saying;

"There is no one on Earth as faithful and good as he is."

This is the lesson of the book of Job; that both the good and the bad have troubles to face, God is a just God.

Just because you're good that doesn't mean that bad things won't happen to you, God is fair, he treats us all the same, but it's our attitude toward our difficulties that make all the difference.

Three of Job's friends didn't understand this principle. They told Job to ask for forgiveness but Job was unsatisfied, he thought himself to be in the right. Only Elihu understood that God is just.

You may say, but how was God just? Job was a faithful servant of God, how were the things that happened to him fair?

Our God is a just God.

What does this mean? It means that he gives people what they deserve. Not only what we deserve but he gives us difficultied that we can handle.

God knew Job was faithful, he knew that Job could handle what the devil put him through.

This is great news for us because it shows that if we're going through difficulties, God gave us those burdens because he knows that he can trust us with them. God has already tested us and he knows what we're made of so he knows that we can handle what we're going through and come out victorious.

Job was victorious because he still trusted God in spite of his circumstances and by the end of the book of Job, God had blessed him with twice as much as he had in the beginning.

So today, I want to encourage you to trust in our Just God. He knows that you can handle what you're going through and he wants to bless you. Just do your part and stay faithful to him and there is no doubt that he will bless you with twice as much as before. Twice as much happiness, twice as much peace, twice as much knowledge, patience, wisdom and twice as much reasons to trust him with your life.
