God is our comforter!
It is amazing that the God that created the universe, the mighty, awesome God who put each star in their place and whose voice can move mountains and command oceans, it's beautiful that this powerful being takes the time to comfort us, his people.
God comforts us in a number of ways.
Firstly he comforts us by shielding us and protecting us from harm and danger.
Psalms 23:4 says;
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
God protects us as a shepherd protects their sheep and this protection and guidance should bring us comfort as we acknowledge that in all seasons and circumstances our maker is taking care of us.
Secondly, God comforts us by going through our troubles with us.
Isaiah 43:2 states,
"When you pass through deep waters I will be with you..."
God is with us in everything that we do. He is with us and near to us as we face trials of every kind. He is beside us as we tred through the deepest of waters, so we need not worry because God is with us, helping us through our difficulties.
Thirdly, God comforts us by staying close to us when we feel sad and burdened by life's troubles.
Proverbs 34:18 says;
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
This means that when we're feeling overwhelmed by life's turmoils and cares, God is near to us comforting us. It may be by sending someone to help us or give us a kind word, but God is always near to those whose spirits need lifting.
Lastly, he comforts us by fulfilling our needs.
Isaiah 61:1 says,
"He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed."
God is doing these things for people even today; he's comforting those whose heart's are broken due to unfulfilled dreams, bad relationships, difficult circumstances, he's releasing those held captive by desires or addictions and freeing those imprisoned by fear or anguish.
God comforts his people by fulfilling their needs.
God fulfills all kinds of needs.
Even the needs of widows, orphands and the fatherless.
Isaiah 54:5 says;
"For your maker is your husband."
Psalms 68:5 states that he is;
"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows..."
Jeremiah 49:11 tells us;
"But I will protect the orphands who remain among you. Your widows, too, can depend on me for help."
Yes, our God is our comforter and he comforts us by filling our empty spaces, by protecting us, by staying with us and drawing nearer to us.
You need not be afraid, God is your comforter. He has helped and taken care of countless people before you, you need not worry or wonder who will help you and save you, look to none other than God who is ready and willing to comfort you your whole life through.
Trust and believe in God who takes care of you for he is your comforter who loves you.
