Day 14~ Our Compassionate God
Our God is a compassionate God.
He is concerned about us and what we go through.
Exodus 34:5-7 says this,
"I, the Lord, am a God who is full of compassion and pity, who is not easily angered and who shows great love and faithfulness. I keep my promises for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin..."
This passage of scripture in Exodus shows us a very interesting side of our God. The book of Exodus is a book in the Bible that goes into detail of the story of Moses and the Israelites as he led them out of Egypt to the promised land.
Now, the Israelites were very inconsistent, in the sense that, they sinned in spite of the fact that they had seen countless miracles performed on their behalf, including the parting of the red sea and the plagues which God had sent on Egypt. Not to mention, they saw God lead them in the form of a piller of cloud and at night as a piller of fire. He rained down manna and sent quails for them to eat, in addition to many other miracles. When it comes to signs and wonders, the Israellites saw their fair share.
It was a wonder that they sinned at all, since they personally saw, the mighty things that God could do and had done for them.
However, they still sinned. They created a calf out of gold to worship.
God had become angry with them and with rightful cause. He had done so much for them and yet they chose to worship the image of an animal.
In spite of this, God was compassionate so when Moses prayed to him, he did not punish the people.
Our God is a compassionate God. He always forgives us when we repent and he is always concerned for our well being. He is not easily angered and he is faithful and shows us great love.
Our God is an amazing, wonderful God and Father.
The good news is, God doesn't change as Hebrews 13:8 reminds us. This means that if God was compassionate then, he's still compassionate now.
So you can trust in him and rely on him to be just as faithful, compassionate, forgiving and loving to you now as much as they could trust and rely on him then.
Trust in God's compassion and I have no doubt that he will take very good care of you!
