Have you ever asked God for something and for some reason it
seems as if your prayers fall on deaf ears? Maybe you’re praying about a
difficult situation you’re facing or for God to send the right person into your
life. It could even be that you’re praying for your dreams to come true but it’s
taking longer than you had hoped.
Maybe you’ve been
asking for months or even years for your breakthrough, maybe you’ve prayed
about it, fasted for it and tried everything you could think of to bring God’s
attention to it but for some reason God hasn’t yet done what you’ve asked for.
Let me encourage you today because God has heard your
prayers. Your pain has not fallen on deaf ears. The Bible says in Psalm 56:8
that he keeps track of all your sorrows, he collects each tear and records each
one in his book.
You may then ask, ‘But if he is listening, why is it that he
hasn’t already done what I’ve been asking him to do?’ Well, maybe before you
see your breakthrough there is something you still have to learn. Maybe you
need to learn how to be patient and trust God in spite of what you feel, in
other words maybe what you’re going through is helping to build your faith in
the Lord.
2 Peter 3:9 puts it like this; “The Lord is not slow in
keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with
you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
What does that mean, well simply put, it means that God will
fulfil the promise he placed in your heart but he will only do so when you’re
ready and the time is right.
In times of difficulty it is good to remember the words of
the hymn writer, it goes;
“Not so in haste, my heart!
Have faith in God,
and wait
Although he seems to
linger long
He never comes too
late.” Torrey
