St Paul in Philippians 3:12-13 wrote that although he had not yet accomplished his goal that his main focus was on forgetting the past and looking to the future. Shouldn't we all strive to achieve this? Shouldn't we all try to move forward, not looking back at the past but anticipating the future?
Jim Rhone says in his book 'The Seasons of Life' "The greatest value of the past is how wisely we invest it in the future." he goes on to say "Let each break off the 'rear view mirror' of their lives and concentrate upon what lies ahead."
Some of us get stuck watching the rear view mirror and forget that in every moment we're moving forward not back. We may sometimes think 'Well, last three years things were amazing for me but I guess my season has passed.'
That sort of thinking won't do, in Isaiah 48: 18-19 God says, "Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past. Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land."
Isn't it awesome to have a God that understands us so well; he knows that we sometimes live in the past and so he says; I have amazing things waiting for you in your future, if only you will move forward and accept the blessings I have in store for you, you would realize that the things that happened in your past can't compare to the wonderful things I have planned for your future!
So today, I would like to encourage you to keep moving forward because amazing things are coming your way. Live your life, not in the past but continue to move forward in this moment, because like it was once said, 'There is no present like the time.'
