Day 2- Healing your Wounds

In life sometimes we face difficulties; we go through things we didn't expect, like maybe we were planning for something to happen; a dream to come true but it didn't go the way we wanted it to go or perhaps we made some bad decisions and now we have to live with the poor choices we made or maybe we get addicted to something unhealthy and now we have to face the consequences of it.

Some of the things that happen to us,we may have had absolutely no control over, for example, things that happened in our childhood that still hurt us.

First of all I want to let you know that whatever your situation, whatever is hurting you or bothering you, it is no surprise to God. Psalm 139:3 says that he is familiar with all your ways so if there is something that is hurting you or that you're afraid to talk to God about, he already knows all about it and is ready to give you peace through your confession to him.

That being said your 'thorn in the flesh' may still cause you pain even after you have confessed your sins. Thoughts may come into your mind telling you, 'well, what you've done is too horrible', or maybe, you may think, 'what I went through was unfair, I didn't deserve that.'

That might be true but we need to remember that all things work for good for those that love God Romans 8:28, so the best thing we can do is permit ourselves to grow from our past and allow our character to be changed for the better. In the book Meditations by Marcus Aurelius he put it like this, "It can only ruin your life if it ruins your character. Otherwise it cannot  harm you inside or out."

You may ask, 'How can any good come from the bad things that happened to me in my childhood?' Well, now you can support a child or even an adult that has gone through or is going through the same thing now.

Truthfully, all your days are written in God's book Psalm 139:16, and everything that has happened to  you or ever will; God already knows about it, he knows where you will be four years from now and exactly what you will be doing at every moment of your life. You see, he has invested too much in you to ever give up on you.

God already knows that whatever trial or tribulation he sends your way, that you have the strength to overcome it. That's because he already weighed everything on scales and I'm sure that if you were to look back on your life, on your trials and tribulations, you would realize that although bad things have happened to you, you survived!

You may still be facing your difficulty right now and if that is the case I would like to encourage you to not give up, the fact that you're still here means that God has not given up on you, he may be removing a bad quality in you so that you will be an even better person John 15:2 or maybe you need to make the decision to move past your difficulties.

But always remember, no matter how trying your trials may be "His grace is sufficient."  2 Corinthians 12:9
