""I do not want anyone to die," says the Sovereign Lord, "Turn away from your sins and live.""
Book of Ezekiel, much like the book of Jeremiah, spoke about the fall of ancient Jerusalem.
Before the fated day, God warned the people through these prophets to turn from their evil ways and return to him, however, they did not listen.
The scripture we're focusing on today however, gives us great insight on the way our merciful, loving God thinks.
He says that he does not want anyone to die.
God does not want anyone to die.
If we think about it, why would God want anyone to die?
He took the time to create each of us, he breathed his precious breath of life into each of us.
It's no surprise then that God wants us all to live.
Not just live in the sense of existing on Earth, but also live eternally with him.
John 10:10 reminds us that God wants to give us a rich, satisfying, abundant life.
How can we claim such a blessing?
He tells us in the same verse; he says, "Turn away from your sins and live."
God wants each and every one of us to live, however, what kind of life would we be living if we live sinful lives?
Our God is a holy God.
Unholy things cannot exist in the presence of holiness, the unholy thing would be destroyed.
Of course, God knows our limitations and so he has already put things in place for us.
Through Jesus' sacrifice we have been made holy, as Hebrews 10:10 reminds us, and this sacrifice stands for all time.
Now, it's up to us to repent of our sins and step into the grace that God has blessed us with.
There isn't one single person that this promise doesn't hold for, so I pray today that we will all do our part and repent of our sins and mistakes, because our God who created us and breathed his life into us, wants us to live.
