Day 20- Think Before You Speak

Centuries before our time people have believed in the power of words. In the Bible, one of the best examples is seen through a sheppard  boy that went on to be a mighty king! Of course that's  none other than the man after God's  own heart; king David.

If you’ve read the Psalms of David you would realize that through them, he made lots of positive confessions over his life such as;
‘Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life’ Psalm 23:6 ,
‘When my enemies attack me, they will stumble and fall’ Psalm 27:2 and
‘God will redeem my life, he will snatch me from the power of the grave.’ Psalm 49:15

All of the aforementioned are positive confessions and words are powerful things. Since the creation of the world, words have been a key part of making things happen. God spoke, and so it was. He brought light into a world of darkness simply through his words; through his words he created the world.

Just like God; your father, your words have the power to create. Too many people go through life confessing negative things on themselves, their family, and their children and they wonder why their lives aren’t going as well as they want.

Proverbs 18:21 reminds us ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue”
In other words, whatever you confess, that's how your life will turn out.

'Why is that?’
It’s simple; what you say is what you believe and whatever you believe is what will be.  So if you confess ‘I am young.  I am healthy. I am attractive. All is well in my world.’
After a while -even if you don't believe it at first- you will start believing it and seeing proof of what you’ve been confessing. Of course the opposite is also true; if you confess bad things like ‘I’m unattractive. I’m poor. My life is horrible.’ You’re going to start believing it and you will start seeing just that.

Many of us are familiar with the word Amen and if asked about it we may say that it’s the world we use to conclude a prayer but do you really know what the word ‘Amen’ means?
The word ‘Amen’ is of Hebrew origins and it can mean ‘to be loyal, to be certain to support and to place faith in’. The literal English translation of this word is ‘so be it’.
In other words, it’s an affirmation. Every time you pray to God, you end by confessing that everything you said is going to come to pass.

Of course, what you confess may not happen right away, remember there is still a time for everything, but surely it will happen for you.

God supports whatever you confess so always confess good things in your life, in the life of your family members, your friends even the world. You have power over the enemies in your life.

Luke 10:19 tells us “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”

Matthew 18:18 reminds us, “Whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on Earth will be loose in heaven.”

So use your words wisely, for every word you speak has a consequence; it can mean the difference between living a life of defeat or one of victory .
